My Ultimate Morning Skincare Routine

Let me tell you one secret about myself lovely readers, well maybe it’s not really quite a secret, but I am a skincare junkie. The rush of discovering a new product, the quest to find that perfect cocktail of products to create the most radiant and flawless complexion. I once had a good friend of mine say, while out to drinks, that she would rather “spend money on a new handbag than a facial” with my immediate response being “Why? My face is the only face I will ever have, a handbag might last a couple seasons.” I am all about #teamskincare over fashion, which is funny considering my profession as a stylist and fashion editor.

Now I don’t claim to be an expert, but I can say that I have tried out a lot, and I do mean A LOT, of products out in the market and today I am going to finally share with you my go to morning beauty routine. I have been pretty consistently using this regime for the past several months with gorgeous results, my skin feels more supple, brighter and less inclined to blemishes (although nothing can truly stop the occasional monthly spots that happen during a particular hormonal month, if someone could, I am a firm believer they would be the next Jeff Bezos.) So, without further ado, below are the products I’m loving in the order that I apply them. Hope you enjoy!

Step 1: The Cleanse OatPolishTEE

Naturopathica Oat Cleansing Facial Polish $56

Naturopathic is hands down one of my favorite beauty brands, I could literally write a entire post on their masks alone, and perhaps might some day, but it is this facial polish that is a true star of the brand. A holy grail product of mine for sure, this formula is a true 3-1 and can be used as a mask, cleanser and exfoliate.  While I’m usually not a huge fan of physical exfoliators, this one is gentle enough for daily use and leaves my skin feeling clean but never dry. An added bonus is it’s luxurious texture and pleasant smell make this product a true joy to use every morning. With ingredients like oat proteins and jojoba beads this cleanser is the perfect combination of soothing, hydrating and brightening and I love it for evening out my complexion.

Step 2: The Toner

HydratingMistTEE

Mad Hippie Hydrating Nutrient Mist $19.99

A huge fan of fashion brands that can multi task, I believe that I love it even more as a quality in a beauty brand and the Mad Hippie hydrating mist is just such a product. A true chameleon, I can bring it with me on a plane or to the gym for a little skin pick me up or as a toner in the mornings.

Packed with a veritable who’s who of antioxidants like vitamin C, green tea, and pomegranate seed extract these ingredients are perfect for anti aging, reducing skin discoloration and brightening. This mist is not only radiance boosting but also incredibly hydrating as well with ingredients such as white pine bark and sodium pca which helps to bind moisture to the skin. It’s delightful slightly fruity floral smell is also a perfect start to any morning.

Step 3: Vitamin C Serum

VitaminCTEE

emerginC Vitamin C Serum $83

Now when a brand is created around one product you expect that formula to be one of the very best and in the case of the brand emerginC that is absolutely true. Started in 1996 by creating one of the most stable and effective vitamin C serums to come out in the market, I’ve honestly have never used another one that works better. A little on the pricy side at $83 dollars but worth every penny; since starting to use the serum I’ve seen a huge difference in the quality of my skin, from overall evenness of complexion to the reduction of hyper pigmentation. It’s light weight consistency, punch of zesty orange scent and quick absorbing formula makes this one of my go to products every morning whether in winter or summer.

Step 4: The Essence

HuxleyOilTEE

Huxley Oil Essence $58

Upon first trying Huxley’s oil essence serum at an event I was instantly hooked. It shares qualities of two major skincare favs face oils and essences but seems to rise above and vastly out preform both to become a true MVP for anyones skincare regime regardless of your skin type. I’ve been using it consistently ever morning for the past year and it has become my absolute can not live without product.  The formula starts off with a typical oil consistency but then quickly absorbs into the skin like an essence, while giving the skin a lit from within glow and a suppleness that I’ve yet to see using any other products.

Step 5: The Oil

CarrotSeedOilTEE

Naturopathica Carrot Seed Soothing Facial Oil $58

Now as a combination skin type I have always struggled with traditional moisturizers. Soothing and hydrating for parts of my skin clogging on others. It wasn’t until I received some advice of a beauty editor friend of mine to try layering light weight facial oils instead of using one thicker heavy moisturizer that my skin really started to improve.

One of the oils I have been using lately is the carrot seed oil from Naturpoathica. Lightweight and extremely hydrating this product is chocked full of  some of the best blends of a oils including carrot seed, primrose, ylang ylang, and jojoba. This mix is the perfect cocktail of hydration and anti inflammatory properties creating an even complexion and super soft skin that doesn’t get congested.

Step 6: The Oil Pt. 2

MarulaOilTEE

Acure The Essentials Marula Oil $15.99

A long time fan of marula oil, I was first introduced to the product via ultra coveted brand Drunk Elephant but at the whopping $72 dollar price tag for a 1oz bottle I begun a quest to find a comparable product at a lower price. Now I am always an advocate for spending money on products that work and that I love and I by no means believe that Drunk Elephant is a bad product it is amazing actually. However, after trying several different brands interpretations of this african oil I came across Acure iteration and was instantly in hooked. To me just as good as Drunk Elephants version and at a fraction of the price. This super lightweight oil is quick absorbing and I literally use it for everything not just my face but it also an amazing body and hair oil as well.

Step 7: The Eyecream

eyecreamTEE

Whamisa by Glow Recipe Chai Tea Eye Cream $26

And finally the last step of my morning routine… The eye cream. This little beauty of a product has a strong design power behind it. With two beauty juggernauts working side by side to develop this formula, leading Korean beauty retailer Glow Recipe and Korean Skincare brand Whamisa behind its creation I knew this was going to be an amazing product. I was not disappointed, this baby packs a powerful punch. Including ingredient such as Rooibos Tea extract and Tumeric this eye cream is perfect for lightening dark circles and firming around the eye area. It also lives up to its name with a gorgeous slightly spicy chai tea scent that is an instant wake up in the mornings.

Hope you loved hearing all about my morning beauty routine. Have you ever tried and of these brands or products? Let me know in the comments below and would love to hear what your go to morning skincare hero is.

I absolutely love skincare too. It makes a little mundane part of getting ready feel luxurious. I think what I’m dying to try out of all your favorite little goodies is the Naturopathica Oat Cleansing Facial Polish. My hubby lives for the St. Ive’s apricot scrub and somehow I’ve been on that for a while now. I’ve been needing a great exfoliator (and since you have such incredible skin) I’m going to try it!! ❤
