There are few things in this world that I love more than entertaining at home. With the holidays in full swing I have teamed up with super talented florist, Ivie Joy to create a beautiful but easy to create centerpiece for all of your festive soirees. So without further ado, I am turning over the reins to Ivie for this post.

Doing a centerpiece for your holiday parties can be daunting, but creating a garland as a tablescape can actually be easy if you follow these steps.

What you will need:

  • Different types of holiday greens, (balsam, pine, boxwood and eucalyptus). One bunch of each of the combined greens will yield about four feet of garland.
  • Red roses from your neighborhood florist – you can combine different tones of red to create depth. We used two types of roses for this particular design.
  • Holiday ornaments, small vases and trimming or simply reuse what you already have. You can get creative.
  • Fruits make an unexpected addition to any centerpiece, but add interesting textures. We used lady apples and pomegranates for the arrangement.

How to Assemble:

Cut your greens into smaller pieces/sections, about six inches each. The mixture of greens will naturally give you a lush texture

Combine them into a bunch using the ziptie or a chenille stem- make sure they are secured tightly at the base of the bundle.

Lay it flat and make another grouping, overlap this one with the first.

Keep repeating this step until you have reached your desired length – you don’t have to cover the entire table.

Place the garland in the middle and start layering in your accents.

Start layering:

Attach some christmas balls  into the greens in groupings to give it a modern feel. Choose different sizes and colors when selecting your ornaments. It will give more dimension to the overall tablescape.

You can the cut the roses leaving three inches of stem, then insert them in and out of the green garland (roses will last at least 6 hours without water – you can wait on this step for the last minute)

Add layers by placing lady apples, pieces of cut pomegranates, cinnamon sticks, or pine cones in and out of the garland to add color and depth

Gather whatever vase you have and cut the roses to desired height, usually closest to the lip of your vessel, and place them alternately on each side of the garland depending on the length you have made

Gold, silver, or red containers can also be used to fill with lady crab apples. Be whimsical, you can also add greens to complement the fruits for a festive look.

Add candle holders you already have if not they buy some that has a bit of shine! It will complete the look of your piece.

Voila!! Have fun and Happy Holidays!!!
