With a bevy of boho styled looks sweeping social media and the second week of Coachella in full swing, it’s easy to say that festival fever is here. But what about us lucky ladies still in the grips of an early spring? Where a balmy day averages around the low to mid 60s? You don’t have to sacrifice your inner-free spirit’s style just because the weather wants to bring you down.
The key to dressing in a style traditionally meant to be worn in warmer weather is to keep the textural elements similar. Ethnic prints mixed with fringe and layered jewelry still keep the feeling of the trend, but mixing in a long sleeve maxi dress, tights, and boots will keep you plenty warm on a chilly spring day.
However, the absolute golden rule about this trend are there are no rules. Festival dressing is about feeling free and exploring different types of clothing that you might not traditionally wear. As a short person, I almost never wear maxi dresses as they are always too long and never fit quite right. But, what I loved about this piece is that high-low hemline, it works for my body type and I got to play around with a style of clothing that I wouldn’t normally rock. Be a little daring, try something different and if you don’t feel comfortable right away see if there are ways that you can work with your look that might help you feel more confident.
If you are attending Coachella this year or want to try rocking your festival wear even if you’re in a colder climate then tag us on Instagram and we will share some of your looks. And as always if you have something you would like to see on the website give us a shout out in the comments below.
